Shipping policy
GearWorks (“GearWorks,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) supplies gearbox parts and related automotive components to customers in South Africa. This Shipping Policy explains how we process and deliver orders placed through our website.
1. Order Processing
Orders are processed after successful payment and confirmation of the order.
We aim to process orders as quickly as reasonably possible. Processing times may vary depending on product availability, order volume, payment verification, and whether a product needs to be sourced from a supplier.
If an item is temporarily unavailable or there is a significant delay in processing your order, we will contact you using the contact details provided when placing the order.
2. Delivery Areas
GearWorks primarily delivers orders within South Africa.
Delivery availability may depend on the destination, courier coverage, product size, weight, and other logistical considerations.
If delivery to a particular area is unavailable, we will contact you to discuss the available options.
3. Delivery Times
Estimated delivery times will depend on the destination and the courier service used.
As a general guide:
-
Major metropolitan areas: approximately 2–5 business days
-
Regional areas: approximately 3–7 business days
-
Remote areas: delivery may take longer
These are estimates rather than guaranteed delivery dates.
Delivery times may be affected by public holidays, weekends, severe weather, courier delays, incorrect delivery information, stock availability, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
4. Shipping Costs
Shipping charges may vary depending on:
-
Delivery location;
-
Size and weight of the order;
-
Number of items;
-
Courier service selected; and
-
Special delivery requirements.
The applicable shipping charge will be displayed during checkout where available or communicated to you before the order is finalised.
Some products may require specialised or oversized delivery arrangements. Additional charges may apply where applicable, and we will communicate these to you before proceeding where reasonably possible.
5. Tracking
Where a tracking service is available, GearWorks or the relevant courier may provide tracking information after your order has been dispatched.
Customers should use the tracking information to monitor delivery progress.
Tracking information may take some time to become active after an order has been collected by the courier.
6. Delivery Address
Customers are responsible for providing accurate and complete delivery information.
This includes:
-
Full recipient name;
-
Correct physical delivery address;
-
Postal code;
-
Contact telephone number; and
-
Any relevant delivery instructions.
GearWorks is not responsible for delays or failed deliveries caused by incorrect or incomplete information supplied by the customer.
If an order needs to be redelivered because incorrect delivery information was provided, additional delivery charges may apply where permitted by law.
7. Receiving Your Order
Please inspect your package when it arrives.
If the packaging appears severely damaged, customers should, where reasonably possible, document the condition by taking photographs before opening the package.
If an item appears to have been damaged during delivery or you received an incorrect item, please contact GearWorks as soon as reasonably possible with your order number and photographs of the package and product.
We will investigate the matter and provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with our Return and Refund Policy and applicable law.
8. Delayed or Lost Deliveries
If your order has not arrived within the expected delivery period, please contact us so that we can investigate with the relevant courier.
While we work with our delivery partners to minimise delays, delivery dates may be affected by circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Where an order is confirmed as lost in transit, GearWorks will work with the courier to resolve the matter and provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with applicable law.
9. Incorrect or Failed Delivery
If a courier is unable to deliver an order because nobody is available to receive it, the address is inaccessible, or the information supplied is incorrect, the courier may attempt to contact you or arrange another delivery attempt.
Additional delivery charges may apply in certain circumstances, particularly where the failed delivery resulted from incorrect information supplied by the customer.
10. International Shipping
At this time, GearWorks primarily offers shipping within South Africa.
International orders may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Customers should contact us before placing an international order to confirm whether delivery is available and what additional shipping, customs, duties, or import charges may apply.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, the customer is responsible for applicable customs duties, taxes, and import charges associated with an international shipment.
11. Product Availability
Some gearbox parts may be sourced from suppliers after an order has been placed.
Where a product requires additional sourcing, the estimated dispatch or delivery time may be longer than standard delivery times.
If there is a significant change to the expected availability of your order, we will contact you where reasonably possible.
12. Large or Heavy Parts
Certain gearbox components may be large, heavy, fragile, or otherwise unsuitable for standard parcel delivery.
Such products may require specialised transportation or additional handling.
Where additional shipping charges or arrangements are required, we will communicate these with you before dispatch where reasonably possible.
13. Changes to Shipping Information
If you need to change your delivery address after placing an order, contact GearWorks as soon as possible.
We cannot guarantee that an address can be changed after an order has been dispatched.
Additional charges may apply if the courier needs to redirect or re-route an order.
14. Shipping and Consumer Rights
Nothing in this Shipping Policy is intended to limit or exclude any rights you may have under applicable South African consumer-protection laws.
Where there is a conflict between this policy and a mandatory legal requirement, the applicable legal requirement will prevail.
